HALLOWEEN IN THE U.S

As Today is the 31st of October, I wanted take a look back on the Halloween experience I had when I was in the United States for a semester abroad two years ago.

My roommate and I decided that we wanted to get the full American experience so of course, we went to a pumpkin patch.

This was such a memorable experience. I loved going to my first ver pumpkin patch in 2020 (covid-life at it's peak lol). A lot of activities are offered such as pumpkin picking, a corn maze, games for children, drinks & food, etc.

I loved the idea of choosing and picking my own pumpkin. It is such a fun activity to do with friends & family. I feel like it's great bonding experience as well as everyone can participate and find something to do.

We definitely turned this day into a mini photoshoot just out of excitement of being there and getting to experience this. I've always loved the american traditions and growing up watching american TV shows was definitely something I was looking for when I came to Raleigh, North Carolina for a study abroad semester.

We then, decided to take the celebration on the streets to see the most decorated houses in our neighborhood. It didn't disappoint as I we found this house that was fully decked out. The owners of this house had a reputation of having the best decorated house for Halloween every year.

Of course, we needed the snacks that go with it so we went to a coffee shop to get the famous Pumpkin Spice Latte, to the supermarket to get pies, cupcakes and all the fun stuff.

Our school also held a pumpkin carving contest. Each class got one pumpkin to decorate and to submit to the jury. My roommate and I carved and decorated the pumpkin for our class and somehow managed to win the contest. Our entire class got offered a free chipotle meal to share together, which was very fun. I think it took us two hours to decorate it but it was really fun and relaxing.

More snacks... because why not? I definitely discovered myself a real love for pumpkin bread. I wanted to try to make it this year but couldn't find the time. I will for sure try before thanksgiving.

Well... that was a quick recap of my Halloween experience in the U.S

Happy Halloween everyone!

Enjoy!

xoxo, Alicia.
